What Limiting Beliefs Do We Need to Replace with Beliefs That Serve Us?

I was talking to a dear friend of mine this week about our limiting belief systems which inspired this blog post and the next couple of posts I have set the intention on writing.

One of the biggest limiting beliefs that I feel that we need to lean into and release is the belief that we are not worthy and/or deserving of our dreams and living an abundant life. That somehow we are not good enough to have the happiness and joy that comes along with living a life full of meaning and purpose.

So how are we able to let go of this limiting belief?

This first step is to accept and acknowledge how we are feeling. Don’t deny or reject it. Lean into it. Why do I say that we need to lean in that feeling of not feeling worthy? It’s because we don’t want to deny those feelings and emotions that are making their way to the surface. So, when we lean into feeling that sensation of unworthiness we are actually accepting how we are really feeling in that moment, allowing us to dig deeper so that we can take the inspired action needed to make the change so that we do feel worthy of those dreams. When we deny or even reject how we are feeling, it only surpasses those emotions even further and further under the surface. They are still there, running a program in our subconscious. Festering until something comes up to trigger us into not just thinking that we’re not worthy, but also believing it. Acceptance and acknowledgment is key when we are letting go of our limiting beliefs. But remember, just because you are accepting and acknowledging how you are feeling doesn’t mean that that limiting belief system is true. There’s a world of difference. We can’t work towards a solution if we are in denial about how we are feeling.

The second step is to ask where we got that belief from. Where did we get the belief that we are not worthy or deserving of our dreams and living an abundant life? To help answer that question; that is a belief system that was projected onto us by a society riddled with generation after generation of conditioning and limitations. As you may already know, we live in a society where we are taught from the time we are toddlers to think, act, and be a certain way. To fit into a box that is filled to the rim of expectations. And if we don’t conform to those expectations, then we are deemed to be difficult - aka - unworthy. Think of the educational system or even religion for that matter. In school we are only taught certain things within certain subjects and within religion are taught what to believe based on a human perspective of interpretation of what the core values and texts actually mean. In a sense, we are told that our worth is based on what we learn and what we believe.

The third step is now to ask ourselves how do we release the limiting belief system of not feeling worthy of chasing after our dreams? The questions I would like to invite you to ask yourself is; do you WANT to feel worthy of chasing after your dreams and what are you willing to shed that limiting belief and take the action necessary to make those dreams a reality?

One of the steps that we can take is to start writing down exactly what it is that we envision our life to look like and exactly how we feel being in our new reality. Don’t hold back. Just let the visualization take over and write everything down that you see. The sights. The sounds. The smells. The feelings. Everything. This is just for you. You don’t have to share it with anyone. Write out every single day; “I believe that I am worthy of my dreams and living an abundant life”.

In my next couple of posts, I will speak on the action steps we can take on letting go of our limiting beliefs and I will also speak on my own journey of how I was able to let go of some of the limiting beliefs that were holding me back from making my dreams a reality.

Because when we release that, along with a host of other limiting belief systems with love as well as forgiveness, we see that we really are worthy and deserving of chasing after dreams to make them a reality and creating a life that is full of meaning and purpose.

Sending love and light for a magically blessed day!
