In continuation of my previous blog post, today I’m going to discuss the actions we can take in order to release the limiting beliefs that are running on repeat in our minds and therefore holding us back from reaching our full potential and chasing after our dreams.
The first step is to acknowledge that the limiting beliefs are there. That’s the biggest step we can take. Denying them, just like denying any other emotion or feeling will end up causing us to become stuck, suppressing even further what needs to come to the surface and be released.
Second, ask yourself, and be honest….do you really want to make the change and take the action needed to release those limiting beliefs? You have to want to change. You have to want to make a better life for yourself. And, the only way you are going to be able to do that is being completely and a hundred percent honest with yourself throughout the entire process about how you are feeling and what limiting beliefs are coming to the surface that are preventing you from being your authentic self.
Third, and this may seem a little weird or awkward, but hear me out. Get a mirror, or stand in front one and ask yourself; why is it you believe you don’t deserve the things that your heart is whispering to you. And, answer honestly. It’s having an honest conversation with yourself. Writing out this conversation can be just as therapeutic. Either way, don’t hold back. You can even incorporate both if you really want to. But hearing your own voice and/or seeing your own words written down in your own handwriting tends to shed a lot of light and is the catalyst for what is really going on under the surface.
Ask yourself questions such as; “Why do you believe that you’re not good enough for____?”. “Why do you believe that you’re not smart enough to_____?”. “Why do you believe you don’t deserve____?”. Whatever limiting beliefs you have that are weighing you down, talk it out with yourself as if you are talking with a close friend. And be completely honest with yourself in the process. Let it all come to the surface. Don’t sugarcoat or leave anything out. This is a special time to be with yourself. Time that is meant just for you without any outside influences.
Mirror work is one of the most beautiful and most powerful healing self-love journeys one can travel on. It teaches us so much about ourselves because we are looking into our own eyes as we are speaking the words and as you may have heard the saying; the eyes are the window to the soul.
If mirror work doesn’t resonate with you, journaling is just as beautiful and just as powerful and healing. Because as I’ve said; you’re putting your own words down on paper in your own writing. Which is magical in and of itself. Me, personally, I have a favorite pen that I like to use that is pink since pink is my favorite color. Same questions above apply when journaling. As well as not leaving anything out or editing anything. Just let it flow. It doesn’t matter how many pages you write. It could be one or it could be five. However many pages it takes you to say what is on your heart is however many pages it takes.
I’m going to tell you a little secret…..even with all the work that you do to heal from the pain and traumas of the past, it’s okay to have these limiting beliefs still come bubbling to the surface. Not just okay, but it’s also normal. You want to know why? And no, it’s not because there is something wrong with you. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU!!!! It’s because they come to the surface sometimes to give us a little reminder of how far we have come along in our journey. They show up when we least expect them to show us that we are in fact on the right path, that we are exactly right where we are meant to be. I started my healing journey 5 years ago when I turned 40 and the limiting beliefs of “I’m not good enough” or “I’m not deserving of this or that” still have a tendency of peaking around the corner just to see if I will cave into those misconceptions. To see if I’m going to give up on what it is I have set out to accomplish. I know now that I am enough in every moment of every day with every breath that I take and I know now that I am deserving of chasing after my dreams and taking the inspired action that pushed me closer and closer to those dreams every day. But maybe that’s part of the dream too? Doing the work. Because it’s in waking up in the morning with a renewed sense of inspiration that your just one heartbeat away from getting everything you’ve ever wanted and at the same time having the awareness that you already do because you believe in yourself and love yourself enough to take that first step to live a life of limitless possibilities.
Sending love and light for a magically blessed day!!
